This year, the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée celebrates its 40th anniversary and the 10th year of its integration into the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Since its creation in 1984, through the initiative of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, the OJM strived to embody the principles of cooperation and intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean, via symphonic orchestral practice by young artists from the Mediterranean Basin.

The 2024 edition of the Festival will be marked by two special concerts by the OJM:

  • Previous members of OJM and Fabrizio Cassol come together on 12 July for an act of exceptional creativity, concentrating on the voice and on string instruments in all their diversity and technical possibilities.
  • On 20 July, the symphonic session directed this year by Evan Rogister is a unique moment bringing together cultural heritage, group composition, improvisation, self-expression through speech, and memory.
